In 1981, Virginia (Ginny) Balchin attended a Creative Writing Workshop day. At the end of the day, delegates were given an hour to write a short poem about one aspect of their life.
For Ginny, the poem "Conkers in the Kitchen" was the result. It was a reflection of the workload, frustrations and joys of family life with three young children.
Over the years, other poems have been written. Some about family life; others reflecting her love of and interest in the deep meaning and significance of Christian life and especially the Christmas season.
